Dallas Wings Guard Reportedly Joins Indiana Fever, Reunites With HC Stephanie White

The Indiana Fever is leaving no stone unturned for next season as they just completed another important acquisition for a noteworthy rotation player.
Indianapolis native Tyasha Harris will be the immediate backup for Caitlin Clark. The signing makes sense, as Clark herself is coming off an injury.
The announcement first came from Chloe Peterson of the IndyStar on April 11. An official announcement is expected on Sunday.
Ty Harris was drafted No.7 overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings out of South Carolina. She spent two seasons with the Connecticut Sun before returning to Dallas last year, missing most of the season due to a knee injury.
Moreover, the 27-year-old is a homegrown talent. Residing in Noblesville, Harris won three IHSAA state championships with Heritage Christian in high school.
The Fever needed to address their lack of depth in the squad, especially after last season's playoffs, finishing sixth- seeded. The 24-20 squad could not cope with established teams, like in the semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces.
A series of injuries to core team players did not help matters, as HC Stephanie White was unable to maintain consistency. CC played only 13 games after suffering a season-ending groin injury.
This is where the experienced Harris comes in cue. She had her career-best season as a starting point guard, averaging 10.7 points and 3 assists per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Apart from Harris, the Fever front office has already completed re-signing Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Monique Billings.
The Fever have already built a strong core for next season, but Harris is close behind. She brings valuable familiarity, having previously shared ties with players like Aliyah Boston and head coach Stephanie White.
Tyasha Harris Reunites with HC Stephanie White
The 27-year-old will not have to start introductions with everyone when she joins the Fever. Tyasha Harris previously joined forces with Boston back at USC.
But that is not all, the veteran guard has already played two seasons with Stephanie White as her coach during her time on the Connecticut Sun, once as a backup point guard. She averaged 5.8 points and 1.7 assists while playing 16.7 minutes per game.
White was a huge fan of her, promoting Harris to a starting role in the Sun's playoff run in 2024.
Harris has enough tools in her bag to wreak havoc coming off the bench, whether it is her strong defensive efforts through awareness and anticipation or her scoring from beyond the arc, as she has shot over 40% from deep over her last three seasons. In 2023, she shot a staggering 46.4% from three.
Harris's acquisition comes at the perfect time to fill out a currently injury-free squad for White, who would like to avenge last season with a championship win.
The hope is that Harris and White's player-coach chemistry will transition nicely to her time in a Fever uniform.
