The UConn Huskies are set to enter March Madness unbeaten, and to top that, a startling stat related to Azzi Fudd is making headlines.

Fudd, 23, has been the driving force behind the Huskies’ phenomenal run. The senior Shooting Guard has proven herself to be lethal several times, and on March 11, WBB analyst EJayArrow disclosed an impressive stat related to the No. 35 on X.

“Azzi Fudd has missed just TEN free throws in her college career,” the caption of her update disclosed. “She’s 120 for 130 at the line dating back to her first free throws as a freshman on January 30th, 2022, against Providence.”

During her injury-ridden 5 years with UConn, Fudd’s best season has been the 2025-26 one. She hasn’t missed a game and contributed to the Huskies’ 6th Big East title win. Averaging 17.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists, Fudd shot 95.1% free throws.

Shooting 40 FTs and landing 38 of them is no joke, and with that Fudd has now surpassed Sue Bird’s 2002 36-streak, setting a franchise record herself. Fudd's feat came with a reward, which highlights her as one of the best shooting guards in the country.

Azzi Fudd Is an Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Finalist

On March 10, Fudd was named one of five finalists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. This is a nationwide recognition for the best Shooting Guards annually. And given Fudd’s 50/40/90 split, it’s no wonder that she made it into the list.

For the season, the Huskies Guard is shooting 48.9% from the field, 44.6% from 3P and 95.1% FT. She ranks 7th nationally in 3P, 4th in defensive win shares and 10th in defensive rating. And UConn Coach Geno Auriemma knows Fudd has all the right ingredients.

“I think mental preparation, having a routine that you are committed to, understanding what it is that makes you a good free-throw shooter… are the main ingredients for me”, he said. “Azzi is very much a creature of habit. She has a routine in her shooting.”

So, for someone like Fudd who “trusts herself as she trusts the process and her routine”, such impressive stats are the direct result of hard work and consistency.
