"Confused": Fans React as Chicago Sky First Round Pick Commits to Kentucky Wildcats

The Chicago Sky have no 2025 WNBA Draft picks remaining on their roster, as all four picks have already left the team within a year. The latest one is Slovenian basketball player Ajša Sivka, who has decided to postpone her WNBA.

She has now committed to play for the University of Kentucky, returning to play college basketball, which the program announced on May 6.

"Her combination of size and skill will fit into our system seamlessly," Kentucky coach Kenny Brooks said in a statement. "Ajša is a tremendous shooter, scorer, and playmaker from the wing position, and she will add experience to our team."

Playing for Joventut Badalona in the Liga Femenina Endesa, the top women's professional league in Spain, she averaged 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and one assist on 40.2/33.8/65 shooting splits in 29 games.

The 6'4 guard played at the 2022 FIBA Under-17 Women’s Basketball World Cup. She averaged 11.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in seven games.

Sivka earned MVP honors at the 2023 FIBA Women's U18 European Championships after leading her team to the gold medal. She also played for the senior national team at the 2023 EuroBasket Women as the youngest player in the tournament.

The Wildcats went into the Sweet 16 last season for the first time in a decade, so the Slovenian's talents could help them reach a better finish.

Ajsa Sivka joins Hailey Van Lith, Maddy Westbeld, and Aicha Coulibaly in failing to crack the Sky's roster one year later.

However, fans are not really sure what to think of this move, as a transfer usually goes the other way round.

Fans React to Ajša Sivka Committing to Kentucky

Every fan on social media was just as confused as the next person, since this is not everyday news: a player deciding to remain in college, that too for two years straight.

"How you go from being drafted to going to college, im so confused" One fan asked a question the world wanted to know from Sivka.

"This is ridiculous. Why is it okay to go from WNBA to college?" Another user wants to completely change this rule.

"Unless she’s Benjamin Button or detailing her life backwards like Cole did on “The Fall-Off Is Inevitable,” this don’t make no damn sense." One fan took the pleasure of comparing the Slovenian's move to iconic pop culture moments, where Brad Pitt and J Cole showcased their lives in reverse.

"Never signed. She got drafted and stayed overseas." One fan stated the reason why Sivka was able to return to college.

"I am really liking what Coach Kenny is doing at Kentucky. This is a very good 'get' for them." One fan commended the Wildcats coach's smart decision to include the Slovenian's talents in their team for the upcoming season.

So, how do you feel about Ajša Sivka delaying her move to the WNBA once again?
