Chicago Sky Star Kamilla Cardoso Adds Major International Milestone to Her Name

Jan 17, 2026, 6:41 PM CUT

While most of the WNBA stars are enjoying their offseason, some are warming up at Unrivaled. And then there’s Kamilla Cardoso, who just hit the finest mark of her WCBA career.

“The reigning International Player of the Year, Kamilla Cardoso, just hit 1,000 WCBA career points”, @CWHoopShow confirmed on X.

“Well deserved — she’s the definition of a winning player: a true team-first, two-way leader who makes everyone around her better and helps teams overachieve," read the post.

Cardoso is currently playing for Guangdong Vermilion Birds. However, she started her WCBA drill with the Shanghai Swordfish in the 2024-2025 season. She averaged 20.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 64.7% shooting with the Swordfish.

Her First recognition came with the WCBA International Player of the Year award for 2025. Yet, that’s not all for the international trophy collection.

The Sky 10’ had led Brazil to Gold in the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, winning the MVP title. Cardoso averaged 10.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. To top that, she has a gold medal and MVP title under her belt from the 2022 South American Basketball Championship, where she averaged 14.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.

“I see myself as a strong person. I had to move out of my home when I was 15”, Cardoso told FIBA back in 2023. “I’m much more confident than before. I’ve grown a lot. I’m more comfortable in myself, inside and outside of the court,” she added.

Entering 2026, Kamilla Cardoso’s Schedule Is Packed

She’ll continue to play at the WCBA for Guangdong Vermilion Birds in the early months. Later on, her Project B debut as a player and owner will keep her busy by the end of 2026.

Meanwhile, in the WNBA, she's set to continue playing with teammate Angel Reese on the Chicago Sky.

“We’re just warming up. I know how to get the ball to Kamilla better than anyone else. I just know where she likes it. Just being able to build her confidence and being able to continue that, hopefully we can stay together for a really long time,” Reese said back in September 2024.

While the Chicago Sky's 10-34 record during the 2025 WNBA didn't really reflect that confident statement from Reese, it's clear that she cherishes playing alongside Kamilla Cardoso.

Yet, what do you think? Will Kamilla Cardoso reach any more milestones before she returns to play the 2026 WNBA season with the Sky?
