Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter is making waves overseas. Her performance in the WCBA has her joining elite company, drawing comparisons to WNBA legends for her international dominance.
Surpassing 2,000 career points with Shanghai Baoshan Dahua Swordfish, Carter has added her name next to legends like Maya Moore. Moore similarly achieved greatness on the international stage, building expansion team Shanxi into a dynasty.
Her 44-point performance against Shandong on January 23rd highlights her impact. She shot 16-for-32 from the field, including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc, leading her team to an 11-7 record at #6 in the WCBA Group A standings.

Despite having veteran players like Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, Maya Caldwell, and Lindsay Allen, Shandong lost with a 2-point margin.
The game ended in a 93-91 victory for Shanghai, as Carter showcased her all-around game, adding 2 rebounds, 9 assists, and 7 steals.
Carter’s scoring through the 2025-2026 WCBA season has been the highlight for Shanghai.
With an average of 33.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 18 games played. As of January 2026, she’s already scored 596 points, shooting 53.8% from the field and 29.7% from three-point range.
What Carter's leadership means for Shanghai
As per the Chinese Women's Hoops Show on X, Shanghai can now secure a spot in the top five of the WCBA standings. This would mark their best finish behind the league's top three teams.
Carter’s leadership has been pivotal, helping the team overcome early losses.
A strong playoff performance would also cement her case for International Player of the Year honors. But it might not be that easy, as Shandong faces 3rd-ranked Sichuan next.
If Carter and her team can pull off an upset against Sichuan, it would be another feather in her cap. Her future with the team looks promising.
