Chicago Sky Announces Signing of 7x All-Star After Angel Reese Trade

The Chicago Sky have landed a superstar. Following Angel Reese's departure, the team announced the signing of a 7x All-Star guard. This is a move the organization has coveted for years.
“SKYla-SKYtown, we’ve officially signed Skylar Diggins,” the Chicago Sky tweeted on X.
Skylar Diggins is one of the most decorated players in the WNBA's free agency period.
She was named to the All-Star team seven times and the All-WNBA team six times. In 2014, she won the Most Improved Player award.
The Sky gave her a two-year deal. Diggins was an All-Star last season with Seattle. She averaged 15.5 points, 5.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.
The Chicago Sky needed players who could make an immediate difference after a disappointing 10–34 season and the trade of Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream.
Skylar Diggins becomes the star the Chicago Sky needed
After years of trying to bring Skylar Diggins-Smith to the Chicago Sky, Jeff Pagliocca has finally made it happen, and he couldn’t be more thrilled.
“Skylar is a player we have coveted for years. We are ecstatic to bring her to Chicago. She is one of the all-time elite passers in our game and continues to play at a high level on both sides of the ball,” said the 47-year-old in a press release recently.
A few days earlier, the Chicago Sky also signed guard Jacy Sheldon. She has played for the Dallas Wings, Connecticut Sun, and Washington Mystics in the league for 70 games.
In those games, she has averaged 6.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 42.3% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range.
Right now, the Sky have added two guards they’ll lean on next season, and although Skylar Diggins and Jacy Sheldon haven’t played together before, it will be interesting to see how they perform together.
So, do you think Skylar Diggins can be the leader of the Chicago Sky after a tough season?
