Caitlin Clark’s Teammate Shares an Injury Update

It might be safe to say that the 2025 season has not been favorable to the Indiana Fever. While several key players have been sidelined due to injury and recovery, Sydney Colson's absence left many questions.
While Colson's awkward fall in August led to an ACL tear, it seems that her recovery has led her to appreciate the brace-breaking, 'run Forest run' moment from Forest Gump. She took to Instagram, featuring a clip of the same, only this time the video was followed by her own clip of running on the court.
She captioned it, “4 months post-op.”
Syd tore her left ACL during a 95–60 loss to Phoenix at PHX Arena. It all came in the first quarter when she went up for an offensive rebound. She secured the ball and then awkwardly landed on her left leg. Her knee visibly bent inward as she fell to the ground in immense pain.

In response, Stephanie White immediately called a timeout. Her teammates huddled around using towels to shield Colson as trainers assessed her.
She was eventually helped off the floor before being ruled out for the game with a left knee injury. Later, she was ruled out for the remainder of the season and subsequently underwent surgery.
So, her recovery is indeed positive news for the Indiana Fever. After all, she’s a two-time WNBA champion, having won back-to-back titles during her three-year stint with the LV Aces before joining Indiana.
“She’s one of the main leaders inside of our locker room, if not the leader in our locker room,” Caitlin Clark told The Athletic on July 21, 2025. ”She’s the constant voice, and she has that great balance of when things can be fun and loose and making jokes and keeping everything light. But also, she’s won before. She knows what it takes to win.”
A player like that is someone Indy will likely be unwilling to lose. But until the WNBA finalizes a new CBA that allows Indiana to sign players, Colson will be staying busy elsewhere.
Where is Sydney Colson headed?
Sydney Colson, along with Odyssey Sims, Bree Hall, and Brianna Turner, is busy in the new year. They will be headed to Nashville to take part in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball league, where they’ll get to compete in the 5-on-5 format.
Now in its fifth year, the Athletes Unlimited Pro shuffles teams every week. This means there are no fixed rosters, no team standings, and no traditional championship. Players are evaluated based on the points they accumulate individually, with the top point earner crowned the overall winner. So what better place to make a comeback?
