Lining up with Caitlin Clark’s NCAA achievement is not for the weak. But Kiyomi McMiller just proved everyone wrong.
On February 26, the Penn State Sophomore Guard helped the Lady Lions seize an 85-82 win over the USC Trojans. But what turned heads were her numbers: 40 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists were what she racked up in the game.
Besides leading her side to a victory, an X update from ESPN Insights disclosed that McMiller entered the league of Clark and Jennifer Schlott with another unique feat. Its caption read, "Kiyomi McMiller writing herself into the history books. McMiller has scored 30 PTS in SIX straight games, joining Caitlin Clark and Jennifer Schlott as the only players with streaks that long in the last 15 seasons."
McMiller’s 30-point-run started on February 2, when she scored 30 against the Purdue Boilermakers. Following a 37 against Michigan State Spartans, 30 against Maryland Terrapins, 32 against Northwestern Wildcats, and 37 against her former team, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Clark holds the NCAA record for the most 30-point games in Division I WBB history with 55 career games of 30 or more points during her senior year. And McMiller has every reason to be thrilled about joining Clark’s elite company.
Caitlin Clark’s NCAA Records
Clark's list of NCAA records are lenghthy. She started by setting records for points and assists for Iowa since her freshman year and was the first freshman to win the Dawn Staley award. Clark has also been named an All-American multiple times.
By her sophomore year, the Iowa star became the first woman to lead Division I in points and assists per game in a single season. Moreover, she was the first Division I men's or women's player to record consecutive triple-doubles with at least 30 points
Moving forward, Clark was also the fastest Big Ten player to reach 1,000 points. And her senior year was even more decorated. Besides all the cups and awards, Clark Broke men's and women's scoring records for a single NCAA tournament.
She scored the most 3-pointers than a men's or women's player in NCAA title game history, became the first player in NCAA tournament history with consecutive 40-point games, etc. And eventually became the first player in men's or women's NCAA tournament history to record a 30- or 40-point triple-double.
And these were only a few of Clark's almost never-ending list. Do you think McMiller will be able to match or possibly break a few of Clark's records?
