Caitlin Clark Surpasses LeBron James in Major Basketball Sales Milestone

As women's basketball continues to grow, Caitlin Clark's potential seems to rise even higher, and her impact has already enabled her to surpass Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James in a significant off-court achievement.

According to tracking data, total U.S. basketball jersey sales by Fanatics since 2024 show that Clark has officially sold more merchandise than King James.

The 2024 Rookie of the Year is second overall on the list, just behind Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry. LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Victor Wembanyama make up the rest of the top 5.

This shows that Clark's popularity no longer remains within the WNBA, as she is directly competing with the biggest NBA stars of our time.

After she was selected as the No.1 overall draft pick in 2024, Clark's first Fever jersey sold out in less than an hour. According to Fanatics, this was the fastest-selling draft-night jersey in history across all sports.

This is no small feat if we look at the broader picture. James has been in the league for over two decades. Curry started in 2009. Meanwhile, Clark has only been in the WNBA for two years and is already sitting alongside the mantle of future Hall of Famers.

In addition, her limited-edition All-Star jersey, priced at $130, was also sold in under 15 minutes back in July 2024. But Clark's impact does not solely rely on merchandise.

As one of the most commercially powerful players of this generation, Clark's Indiana Fever is the only team in the WNBA that will nationally televise all 44 regular-season games, with 39 of them in NBA-sized arenas.

Clark has also driven women's basketball ratings that rival the NBA. Her current anticipated WNBA games also usually surpass 2 million viewers, drawing roughly 30% to 50% more than standard NBA regular-season programming.

CC22 has dominated the commercial aspect of the WNBA. However, that does not limit her to only one profession.

Recently, Clark has expressed a desire to take her photography talents to another major sporting event after finding success with her photos of LeBron James.

Caitlin Clark Reveals Her Next Photography Goal

After her brief stint as a courtside photographer during an NBA game between the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Lakers in March, Clark has shown that she knows her way around a camera.

With King James's viral clicks on social media, Clark has chosen golf as the next sport she would like to cover.

“[I] have now collected three cameras, got to shoot LeBron, got to check that off the bucket list. I went to the Masters, so my next goal is to hopefully be able to shoot the Masters. Maybe next year I could shoot a day of the Masters. I think that would be pretty cool,” Clark said during a puppy room interview posted on the Fever's YouTube channel.

The 24-year-old has never hidden her love for golf and is also friends with professional golfer Nelly Korda. The duo played together during the ANNIKA LPGA pro-am in 2024, and Korda said it “felt like two friends hanging out.”

Clark has found the perfect sweet spot to enjoy her hobbies by combining her two non-basketball passions.
