With the 2026 WNBA season about to begin, Caitlin Clark is finding new ways to stay sharp. Just a few months back 2025 WNBA season wrapped up with the Las Vegas Aces defeating the Phoenix Mercury.
Now, as attention shifts to the 2026 campaign, uncertainty looms over the league with CBA negotiations still unresolved. Yet amid all this chaos, one thing remains constant: Caitlin Clark isn't waiting around.
Caitlin Clark gave fans something unexpected to talk about on January 21. She posted IG stories showing off her quarterback abilities during a morning practice session at the Pacers' facility.
She captioned the video jokingly, "Someone sign me," She followed up with adding another clip. Where she showed a deep football throw caught by Eddie Ambrose, possibly a member of the Fever's practice squad, with the caption, "This is what I'm really dealing with".
It's been exactly 190 days since Clark last stepped onto a WNBA court in competitive action. But she is not giving it a let go.
CBA Uncertainty Lingers as Clark Stays Game-Ready
Now the waiting game continues as CBA negotiations drag on without resolution. The WNBA released its 2026 schedule on January 20 and the season opener is on May 8. The playoffs begin around September 27, according to the schedule, but the lack of a finalized CBA puts everything in a bit of uncertainty as well.
During negotiations, the league has reportedly proposed opening training camps as early as March. Not just that, but also extending the season into November.
However, nothing has hit the mark. Players like Breanna Stewart have suggested that if a deal can be reached by February 1, there should be enough runway to proceed without delaying the regular season.
But the good news is that Clark's groin injury has fully healed, something she tried out fully during the Team USA training camp in Durham, North Carolina, in December.
And now, Clark continues training and preparing for her third WNBA campaign, even if she doesn't know exactly when it will begin. Her football-throwing videos show she's keeping things light and having fun during the offseason. The countdown to Clark's return is on, whether that's 100 days away or 200.
One thing's for sure: when the Fever star finally steps back on the court, she'll be ready.
