Mar 30, 2026, 4:33 AM CUT

Fresh off her dominant run at the FIBA Qualifiers and bolstered by the new CBA deal, Caitlin Clark will be returning to the W with momentum for its 2026 season.

Speaking about her expectations and goals on Basketball Night in America, Caitlin Clark emphasized that the Fever is trying to bring back Kelsey Mitchell, among other things.

"I mean, we were trying to win it all last season. That's what we're trying to do this year," Clark said. "You know, our first priority is to sign Kelsey Mitchell back. She was first-team All-WNBA last year; she's kind of my running mate in the backcourt. She makes it really easy for me."

"There's nothing like playing for the Fever. I think we're gonna be the favorite to win it all. I think it adds a little pressure, but that's what you love about it. But we've got a great squad, great coach, great support staff. So, super excited," she added.

Kelsey Mitchell played a huge role last season, especially in Caitlin Clark's absence.

She appeared in all 44 games, averaging 20.2 points while also contributing across the board, finishing fifth in the MVP race.

Only three players are under contract with the Fever for the upcoming season as of now- Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Mikayla Timpson, while Kelsey Mitchell and the Fever are yet to extend her contract.

The Comment by Caitlin Clark Comes Amid Uncertainty Surrounding Mitchell's Future

Clark's comments on Kelsey Mitchell come just under a week after the Indiana Fever sparked a frenzy among fans with a graphic featuring their key players.

The graphic, which served as a countdown to their tipoff at the upcoming season, featured Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Mikayla Timpson. Mitchell's absence began to concern fans, with many expressing their doubts over her future with the Fever.

However, optimism prevailed, as some fans pointed out that the Fever opted to feature players who were still under contract at the time.

That being said, only time will tell whether Kelsey Mitchell and the Fever extend their union.

Caitlin Clark will return with the Indiana Fever to face the Dallas Wings on May 9.
