Caitlin Clark Reveals True Feelings About Kelsey Plum Amid Team USA Stint

This week marked Caitlin Clark’s first appearance with the senior women’s national team, a major step after playing for five years in the junior system.

Clark noted that while she is still working through some conditioning, her body feels good, and staying healthy is the main focus. “I was a little nervous,” Clark added. “I haven’t been out there in a while. But just being back in a competitive practice like this felt really good.”

She described Team USA as a mix of young talent and experienced veterans who understand international basketball and set the tone in the gym. That leadership showed up right away when she shared the floor with two-time WNBA champion Kelsey Plum.

Clark did not hide how much she valued the experience. “Her energy is always great.” Just being around her is fun. She’s won. She knows what this is about. That energy matters.”

For Caitlin Clark, the difference at this level is simple

“This is different from college,” she said. “Everybody here loves basketball. Everybody wants to be the best. You can feel it without anyone saying a word.”

She also reflected on how only a few selected players from youth camps ever reach the senior national team, making the invitation itself a milestone.

After spending time away from the court due to her injury last season, Clark said she is focused on enjoying the opportunity. “I missed it so much,” she said. “I would’ve taken bad games just to be out there playing.”

Clark also briefly acknowledged the larger moment in women’s basketball, including ongoing CBA discussions, but kept her message simple. “At the end of the day, fans want to see us play,” Clark said.

Surrounded by great players, Clark’s first Team USA camp is about learning, competing, and building toward what comes next.
