Caitlin Clark returned to the court on Tuesday, but it was a fiery exchange that stole the show. The Indiana Fever star found herself in the middle of a heated altercation that led to a technical foul that didn't even register with her until later.
While the Fever won 90-82 today, Clark picked up a technical foul after a back-and-forth with Valkyries forward Janelle Salaun. Yet, it wasn't until after the match that Clark realized she had been penalized.
"Oh, did I get a technical?" Caitlin Clark stated in shock during the post-game presser. "Oh, no way. It just makes sense for the refs tonight, so I’m not surprised. Wow. Wow, I could have got ejected," she added.
"I should have been a little safer in the second half... Ok, well, I guess I have some fines coming my way. And a flagrant. Wow," she added.
Clark also said, "Well, the refs were interesting, but I’m not gonna say anything else because, obviously, I’ve got probably $1,000 worth of fines coming my way." Lastly, stating, "But I was just trying to rebound."
Caitlin Clark was also seen exchanging trash talk with Valkyries All-Star guard Tiffany Hayes, and also got a Flagrant foul after she dropped Valkyries guard Veronica Burton with a slight shoulder push.
But what does this win mean for the Fevers, and does Clark have to worry about the mounting fouls?
Indiana Fever Road Ahead Amid Caitlin Clark's Recent Fouls
Including the technical foul she received on May 13 against the Los Angeles Sparks for yelling at the game official, this makes it two technical fouls so far this season.
This tally has already matched the number of technical fouls Caitlin Clark received last season. Additionally, according to WNBA rules, eight technical fouls result in a one-game suspension.
Fever has shown excellent form in their first six games, having won four of them. Fever achieved this feat last in their WNBA title-winning season in 2012.
Fever play Valkyries again next Thursday, after the Valkyries' game against the Connecticut Sun this upcoming Monday.
Caitlin Clark scoring 22 points with nine assists, along with Boston's 16 rebounds, will surely boost the confidence of the Fever against the Valkyries.
