While Caitlin Clark's stat line was not the brightest in the Indiana Fever's preseason game against the New York Liberty, she still produced a memorable moment of the night.
Following a 109-91 victory against Breanna Stewart and the Liberty, Clark spotted two young fans in the stands. In a heartwarming moment, the 24-year-old took off her sneakers, signed them, and gifted them to the two boys.
But internet fans, being the detectives they are, caught hold of the sneakers Clark gifted the boys. Those preseason game-worn sneakers turned out to be an unreleased pair of Nike Kobe 5 PEs. An April 25 X update from Sole Retriever further highlighted this moment.
The story behind the shoes shows the level of detail with which Clark has collaborated with Nike. According to Sole Retriever, the shoe draws inspiration from CC’s favorite movie, The Parent Trap, making it part of Caitlin Clark’s “Parent Trap” PE collection.
The shoe featured a clean white base layered with light blue detailing on the Swoosh and heel, bright yellow accents on the tongue and sockliner, and a subtle camo mix of yellow and blue on the outsole.
Clark's Kobe player-exclusive shoes have been some of the most popular to come out this season, for fans and even for players, especially in the NBA.
According to KixStats, the Nike Kobe 6 Caitlin Clark was on the hardcourt for 12,625 minutes, becoming the single most-worn shoe in the league. The Nike Kobe 5 Indiana Fever ranked fourth, staying on the court for 7,780 minutes.
While it will be interesting to see what position her unreleased Kobe 5 PEs end up in, Nike has a better option for Caitlin Clark fans coming out soon.
The Nike Caitlin 1 has an Expected Launch Date
While Nike itself has not officially announced the release of CC's signature line, the folks from KicksFinder have now given us an idea of the name, launch date, pricing, and colorways of Clark's debut hoop shoe.
The shoe is expected to launch on September 29, 2026, with almost a full-size run.
The reported pricing will be Adults ($140), Grade school ($115), and Preschool ($105).
Nike is also expected to release the Caitlin 1 in both Halloween and Christmas-themed colourways.
Apart from her signature line, Nike will also continue her player-exclusive Kobe line, with the Nike Kobe 5 “Rookie of the Year” and “Coconut Milk” set to drop this spring.
So, will you be grabbing a pair or two of Clark's signature shoe line this fall, or do you prefer to stick to her player-exclusive collaboration with Kobe?
