Even when she’s not in the frame, Caitlin Clark still finds a way to steal the spotlight. And the Indiana Fever’s recent post was no exception.

To keep fans engaged during the season, the Fever often leans into fun, creative social media trends. On Thursday, the team took to Instagram and jumped on the 2016 throwback wave.

They shared old photos of Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, Sydney Colson, Shey Peddy, and Chloe Bibby. “The squad back in 2016,” the team captioned the post.

There was just one problem: no Caitlin Clark. She didn’t miss it. She popped into the comments with a playful, “Can’t be got.” The Fever quickly fired back, replying, “Scrolled and found nothing.”

That’s when things got even better as Chloe Bibby jumped into the thread and jokingly asked Clark, “Were you even walking by then? Or still in diapers?” Clark took it in stride, replying, “Fair point.”

It was all clearly in good fun. And honestly, Bibby wasn’t far off. Back in 2016, Clark really was just a kid.

When Did Caitlin Clark Start Playing Basketball?

The 23-year-old Iowa native started playing basketball at just five years old. With no girls’ teams available for her age group, she competed in boys’ recreational leagues early on.

She tried multiple sports growing up, but eventually committed fully to basketball. By age 13, Clark was already competing against girls several years older than her.

Her talent didn’t take long to show. In 2017, she won her first international medal at the FIBA Americas U-16 Championship in Argentina.

Gold medals followed at the FIBA U-19 World Cup in both 2019 and 2021. So no, she may not have been part of the 2016 squad. But a decade later, she’s very much the face everyone’s talking about.
