Caitlin Clark left her teammates impressed after draining a quick-release three-pointer during a recent practice session with the Indiana Fever. It offered another glimpse of her growing confidence post-injury and ahead of the 2026 WNBA season.
With the regular season approaching, Indiana has already built early momentum with a strong preseason opener, a 109-91 win over the NY Liberty on Sunday. The Fever displayed an all-around effort, giving positive signs before the season.
Clark added to that optimism during a recent intra-squad scrimmage. In a video shared by the team that quickly gained traction online, Caitlin Clark received a pass during transition and wasted no time shooting a three-pointer. The shot dropped cleanly, leaving her teammates hyped on the sidelines.
Aliyah Boston, who recently secured a major contract extension, celebrated the shot, saying, "Hell Yeah, Nice C." Rookie Raven Johnson, the 10th overall pick this year, also reacted enthusiastically. "Let’s go!" she exclaimed. "The GOAT right there."
The moment carried added importance considering Clark’s shooting struggles during her injury-affected sophomore season. She shot 27.9% from three-point range last year, a dip from her 34.4% in her rookie year.
Caitlin Clark and her Fever teammates impress against the Liberty
In the preseason opener on Sunday, Caitlin Clark recorded 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. "Honestly, my shot felt really good, and I was missing lone, which is what you want to see," she said after the game. "I felt fast, and that was definitely a positive. I struggled in that area last year, but my body felt great."
Clark's performance was good but not standout. Meanwhile, rookie Raven Johnson also delivered a promising performance. The rookie guard contributed 6 points, 3 rebounds, and a team-high 8 assists off the bench. Her early production adds depth to the Fever’s backcourt.
Kelsey Mitchell and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored a team-high 18 points each, and Sophie Cunningham contributed 13.
Meanwhile, Aliyah Boston has yet to return to full action as she continues recovery from a lower-leg injury. Despite the setback, Boston, who sat out in the preseason opener, expressed confidence about her return.
Looking ahead, the Fever will continue their preseason against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night. This matchup offers another opportunity to refine rotations and maintain momentum before the regular season.
