LeBron James has been one of Caitlin Clark's loudest supporters since her days with the Iowa Hawkeyes. LeBron's constant praise for her has led to a great friendship between the NBA icon and the rookie phenomenon.
Due to a series of lower-body injuries, Clark played only 13 games last season as the Indian Fever bowed out against the Las Vegas Aces in the semis. During that period, it was LeBron James who offered support to the youngster. In an exclusive interview with ESPN's Malika Andrews, Clark said, "I think LeBron has been there to support me more than anything."
"When I was hurt last year, he reached out and was like, 'Is there anything I can do to help you?'" Clark added.
Caitlin feels LeBron resonates with everything she goes through due to the similarities they have had in their careers.
For context, they both entered their respective leagues as the most anticipated rookies of their generation. Later in his career, LeBron also dealt with multiple injuries and came back stronger.
"He understands the microscope that I'm under and the spotlight that's on me."
"[He's] Just somebody that’s there trying to help you... And I think that’s a lot of our relationship now," she added.
Their friendship has now moved beyond the basketball court. Caitlin's wish is now to have a golf swing alongside the four-time NBA champion.
"We text about golf," she revealed. "Next on our bucket list is to play golf together. I’m not sure either of us are too great."
With LeBron's support at the other end, Caitlin is "100% healthy" and looking forward to a big season ahead.
Caitlin Clark now knows how to stay fit
During her rookie season in 2024 and across four years at Iowa, Clark never missed a game. But three injuries forced her to miss 28 of 41 regular-season games in 2025.
But after a tough time, Caitlin now knows how to stay fit.
"It's honestly taught me more than I probably ever learned over the course of my career. How to take care of your body. How to get right. How to stay healthy. And then just taking time for yourself," she told ESPN.
Clark's return ahead of the 2026 WNBA season has been carefully planned. She led Team USA to a 5-0 win in the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
She then played all three of Fever's preseason games and averaged 13.3 points and four assists every game.
With the Fever opening their season against the Dallas Wings on Saturday, all eyes will now be on Caitlin's comeback.
