Brittney Griner Draws Attention After Physical Moment With Aliyah Boston

On Friday, January 23, Brittney Griner and Aliyah Boston's battle for the ball during Vinyl BC's clash against Phantom BC got physical. And what Griner did after getting tangled with Boston during a play drew more than a flagrant foul.
During a rebound battle between Britney Griner and Aliyah Boston of Phantom, Griner’s right arm made contact with Boston’s face, leading to a flagrant foul call and a comment from Lisa Leslie.
On commentary, Leslie didn’t hold back, saying, “Listen, I think that was extra and I think it's excessive. If that was my face, I probably would have punched her.”
As fans and analysts argued whether Griner’s move was intentional, Griner didn't hold back from defending herself on social media. “Why would I be jealous of someone when I’ve played against Legends and Goats! She ain’t got s*** I want or ever want!” she responded to a fan who called her jealous.
She didn’t stop there. Addressing Lisa Leslie’s comment, she replied, “Lisa plz! TF worst advice and definitely wouldn’t of happen! 🧐🤨😂”.
Griner’s replies sparked even more conversation around the situation. However, she is probably not losing sleep over the incident.
As Unrivaled continues in Miami, Griner is focusing on her future
The center has expressed excitement about rejoining the Atlanta Dream, once the new CBA negotiations are finalized and free agency begins.
"Everybody on that team, it was just easy. Basketball was the main focus; we showed up, we hooped, and that's all you can ask for," Griner told Sports Illustrated’s Maria Clifton on January 18.
"And I'm looking forward to being there again. I'm looking forward to just being in the city. The city was amazing. They welcomed me so well, and I had a blast," she added.
She also has a documentary called 'The Brittney Griner Story', directed by Alexandria Stapleton and produced by ESPN, which just premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
