Sophie Cunningham’s offseason has been quite busy. And yet, she made time for the NBA All-Star weekend.
During the event, the 29-year-old wished for a startling change in the NBA All-Stars program. 'The Enforcer' wanted the league to fall back to it's old ways instead of their modern schedule for the weekend, featuring three teams.
Cunningham stated that if she had to change one thing about the All-Star game, she’d take out the three teams. The Fever associate mentioned, "I would go back to East vs West, like just bring it back. Keep it simple. I think they are trying to get more views and stuff, which I totally appreciate. I just think like, keeping it simple. Go back to the basics."
Moreover, NBA All-Stars like Cade Cunningham, Kawhi Leonard and even LeBron James voiced the same things.
"I grew up just wanting to be in an All-Star Game," Cade Cunningham said. "So, my only two years now have been in these different formats. I would like to experience the East versus West."
Leonard voiced a love-hate feeling about the current format, saying he would like the East vs West one better. Meanwhile, Bron seemed ready to see what league is trying to do but remained sceptical.
So Soph’s remark is a valid push to the already existing comments. However, leaving the All-Star weekend behind, the Indiana Fever star is going to get even busier in April.
Sophie Cunningham Is Hosting a Golf Classic in April
Most might call this a Caitlin Clark effect, and that might even be true. The Fever 22 invited Cunningham and Lexie Hull to be her caddies this year. And that may have influenced Cunningham to host the first annual Sophie Cunningham Golf Classic on April 11–12.
Soph did not waste time sharing the news on her socials. She even invited interested participants to call or email for more details. However, it’s not too shocking if we consider her growing interest in golf since 2025.
Nevertheless, it’s not clear whether she’ll take the course herself or not, but her making the best use of the offseason is really something to look for.
Do you think Cunningham will play at her own golf event in April?
