Azzi Fudd’s Return Draws Massive Crowd as UCONN Rolls Past Georgetown

Azzi Fudd's remarkable performance helped the UConn Huskies defeat Georgetown 83-42 on January 22, and she also drew in a significant number of fans single-handedly.
Following the match, Fudd appeared in an interview with the basketball analyst, Autumn Johnson, who informed her about her personal ticket sales figures. It can be safely said that the number startled the UConn guard.
Johnson told Fudd, "I heard you had 125 tickets to your name. What was it like, actually? What was it like playing in front of this home crowd?" Fudd failed to register that she had sold 125 tickets and tried to reconfirm the figure, asking, "Actually?" Johnson assured her that the information was correct, which made her even more elated.
"That's insane. It's always super special to be back home and to be in a familiar arena, to see so many familiar faces”, Fudd replied after expressing her joy. "Honestly, I felt the love from everyone to see so many UConn jerseys...That's a lot of tickets. I am definitely loved."
Fudd fans' t-shirts said "Fudd around and find out," and her remarkable performance on the night made them a highlight. The Huskies guard scored 19 points with 6 rebounds and 5 assists to get the better of her opponents.
The UConn No. 21, Sarah Strong, also played a significant role with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Serah Williams added 12 points with 6 rebounds. However, Fudd highlighted an area where she wanted her team to improve.
Azzi Fudd Points Out Flaws in the UCONN Huskies Defence
Losses may teach an individual the most worthy lessons, but Fudd knows that lots can be learned from victories as well.
Despite the UConn Huskies' impressive 83-42 win over Georgetown in their last match, the 23-year-old said her side's defense needs improvement.
"Tonight, I don't think we quite mastered our defense. We had a good quarter, but definitely some areas of improvement," stated Fudd. "I would definitely say our defense, our tapping, our pressing, our rotations, I feel like that's something [in which] we're not quite there yet. But as we continue, we're definitely mastering that."
Fudd is currently in line to become the No. 1 WNBA draft pick for 2026. And the ticket sell-outs are expected to clock a number far beyond 125 if she reunites with former UConn mate, Paige Bueckers, at the Dallas Wings.
But the question is, will fate take her that way? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
