Azzi Fudd Offers a Brief Take On Ongoing CBA Negotiations

WNBA’s 2026 season may undergo some unexpected delay due to the ongoing CBA negotiation, but UConn star Azzi Fudd isn't ready to break a sweat thinking over the pro league just yet.

Fudd has been a pivotal part of the Huskies' side, and she proved it yet again by leading her side to a 92-52 victory against Seton Hall on January 23. However, during the postgame conference, an interviewer asked whether she was keeping her eye on the WNBA's CBA situation.

Fudd came up with a straightforward reply, saying, "Yeah, I've been super focused on, right now, this team [the Huskies], and what I'm doing here."

The Huskies are currently holding the top spot in the Big East Conference, with a season record of 21-0, and Fudd is averaging 17.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per match. UConn is just 10 games away from the title, and the No. 35 needs to continue her blazing form to help her team win it.

Given Fudd's impressive performances for the Huskies this year, it's understandable that she wants to accomplish the task she has at hand first.

However, the aforementioned instance is far from the first time Fudd received a question about the WNBA's CBA negotiations, and her previous reply was a bit different.

Azzi Fudd Was Keeping Track of the CBA Negotiations in Late 2025

Currently, the stalled CBA negotiations have cast a question mark over the start of the 2026 WNBA season, despite the authorities releasing the schedule. However, the CBA dispute between the WNBPA and the WNBA has been ongoing since mid-2025.

In October 2025, a USA Today video showed that Fudd was also questioned about following the developments related to the CBA scenario at the time. But while she completely avoided talking about it during the recent press conference, Fudd confessed that she was keeping track of the scenario back then.

She mentioned, "I am definitely keeping up with it. I think, that, as this last month, as we started to ramp up, I’ve started to not keep up with it as much, and really just try to focus on where I am right now."

Fudd added, "But there is definitely a lot to learn. But I do think that right now my main focus is where my feet are, focusing on this season, what I can do to get better and what I can do to help my team out."

With her brilliant performances in the Huskies jersey, Fudd is on the way to becoming one of the top 2026 draft picks, along with Spanish player Awa Fam and UCLA’s Lauren Betts.

However, with WNBA stars protesting the authorities in various ways, like the "Pay Us What You Owe Us" t-shirts, Fudd probably doesn't want to get herself dirty unless she is officially part of the league.

But do you think she will be able to achieve her goal of making the UConn Huskies the 2026 Big East champions?
