Azzi Fudd Hints at Emotional Moment as Senior Night Approaches at UCONN

Feb 22, 2026, 2:00 PM CUT

Azzi Fudd's time at UCONN is nearing its end. Now, Fudd is admitting that leaving the team that helped her become a college basketball star won't be easy.

The 23-year-old is heading towards her senior day on February 22. She and her peers have been talking about this for years, but when her own senior day is near, it feels a “little different”.

“I feel like being on the other side of this is less sad”, Fudd said. “We were talking about all the other years... But now it’s like we still have so much season left… What we have done here has been so much fun, so it feels a little different,” she added.

The UConn 35 admitted that the juniors are betting about who would cry. While Fudd has been using the “2 months” tactic to get others hang out with her, she knows she’ll get emotional.

“I think I will (cry). I haven't really been emotional at all this year about anything... When I do, it's gonna hit me like a truck.”

Fudd has dealt with injuries this season. Despite that, she averaged 18.0 PPG, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. She’s already making her case to become the #1 draft pick. But the real question is how much she’s thinking about.

Azzi Fudd Opened Up About Her Leading Draft Pick Probability

Fudd’s and Breanna Stewart’s podcast had a crossover on February 21. There, Stewie asked Fudd how much she is thinking about the drafting. But the latter made it clear that’s not where her priority lies for now.

“I mean, obviously, that getting drafted is a dream and being No. 1 is a dream. It’s like I want to be in that UConn hallway with you and with everyone else. But I’m really not thinking about it”, Fudd said.

To avoid being consumed by social media and what’s next, she hasn’t been on socials much either. The drafting is out of her control, but doing whatever she can for UConn is not.

“I’m really trying to stay present because I know I’ve got two months left… I’m really trying not to think about too much of what’s going to happen after cuz I also can’t control it. It’s not in my hands. I got to take care of business here first”.

The Huskies are unbeaten with a 17-0 record in the Big East and a 28-0 overall record. After Paige Bueckers, Fudd has been a key player in Auriemma’s team.

How much do you think her absence will affect the team? Tell us in the comments.
