Azzi Fudd has done a great job attracting more eyes in her final campaign with the UConn Huskies, with the latest one being WNBA legend Diana Taurasi.

The Phoenix Mercury legend is a huge fan of Fudd and has picked her to be the No.1 pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft. Taurasi on Monday told USAT's Sam Cardona-Norberg about how impressed she is with the 23-year-old.

“Azzi’s the best pure shooter I’ve ever seen... playmaking, decision making, great defender, always puts on the other team’s best guard & every huddle she’s the one talking. She’ll definitely be the # 1 pick, there aren’t many players like her to have ever worn a UConn jersey." Taurasi said.

One look at Fudd's scores this season tells the story. The "People's Princess" is having her best collegiate season to date, averaging 17.7 points per game along with 3 boards and a 92% free throw average.

The American is known to be the best pure shooter in the country, particularly due to her three-point shooting prowess. Fudd regularly shoots 45% from beyond the arc, a number which extends to 47 if we only count off-ball screens, one of Fudd's strongest suits. The face of UConn is also the favourite to win all National Player of the Year honours.

As for the highly debated topic of next season's projected top pick, Fudd fits the modern WNBA prototype, as the league's offences have been sculpted around "gravity". Fudd is a highly intelligent prospect when it comes to moving around the court and taking defenders on a ride alongside her.

In addition, Fudd has managed to be a part of every single game this season after being marred for three seasons straight due to constant knee and foot injuries and relapses. Her consistency this season proved that her ACL concerns are in the rearview mirror now.

While there remains debate regarding whether Dallas should opt for bigs like UCLA's Lauren Betts or Spain's Awa Fam to solve defensive and paint inconsistencies, Fudd's offensive versatility and stardom may well make the case for Dallas to confirm their choice.

Azzi Fudd Dismantles Second-Round Syracuse in Final Home Game

In what was her final home appearance, Azzi Fudd proved her worth once again in the latest March Madness weekday against second-round opponent Syracuse.

Gampel Pavilion was treated to a last masterpiece show set by Fudd, as she tied her career high score of 34 points, along with a record 8-11 shooting from beyond the arc. Fudd continued the onslaught creatively with five assists and three boards. UConn cruised through its 32nd straight Sweet Sixteen berth behind a 98-45 clobbering.

"Gampel has been home for the last five years, and when people say, like, no place compares, it really doesn't. Everything about this place is amazing. So to be able to play here one last time, have a great team win like we did tonight, couldn't have asked for anything better." Fudd added.

It was the perfect send-off for Fudd's last home game, as she will now set her sights on going back-to-back with the Huskies and eventually on April 13 for the much-awaited WNBA Draft.
