“As Bad as She Did’: Rachel Demita Blames Caitlin Clark’s Teammate Despite Fever’s Win

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever may have finally secured their first win of the season. But seeing Aliyah Boston’s on-court performance, WNBA analyst Rachel DeMita didn’t sound too impressed.

The Fever’s 87-78 win over the Los Angeles Sparks exposed some downsides of the Fever players. And among all, DeMita had to highlight Boston’s game specifically, in her Courtside Club podcast on May 14.

“Now, somebody on the Indiana Fever who really struggled tonight was Aliyah Boston,” she explained. “And I'm kind of surprised that they won this game the way that they did, even with Aliyah Boston playing as bad as she did.”

4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a team-high 6 fouls summed up Boston’s “bad” game of the night. None of her 3 shots from the field landed, nor the one 3-Pointer she attempted. The 4 points came from free throws.

As DeMita noted, “Boston was totally non-existent” and struggled with both the Sparks’ Forwards Cameron Brink and Nneka Ogwumike. And there was no way she “(expected) Aliyah to play like this.”

Undoubtedly, that kind of performance isn’t the norm for the No.1 draft pick like Boston. But it wasn’t just Boston that played a lackluster game that night.

Rachel Demita Addressed Damiris Dantas’ Performance

During the season-opener game against the Dallas Wings, Boston scored 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. So, DeMita could pass her latest performance as a “stinker game.” But she couldn’t say the same for Damiris Dantas.

“You have Dantas, who also really struggled,” she pointed out. “She was in foul trouble so quickly. She really struggles on the defensive end. She's definitely slow compared to a lot of these forwards. She did hit a three, but… that's pretty much it.”

Dantas and foul trouble keep being a recurring issue. Against the Wings, she committed a team-high 5 fouls and came down with 4 against the Sparks. So, despite the win, there is room for improvement for the team.

Moving forward, do you think the performance will be any different as the Fever takes on the Washington Mystics, shortly? Let us know in the comments.
