As Aryna Sabalenka turned 28, wishes poured in from all around the tennis world, including a special message from her longtime boyfriend-turned-fiancé, Georgios Frangulis.

After coming up short at the Madrid Open, the world No. 1 turned her attention to the Italian Open, where she will face Barbora Krejčíková in the Round of 64 tomorrow. However, she didn't miss out on celebrating her 28th birthday on May 5, which got her boyfriend penning an endearing post for her.

“Happy Birthday to the love of my life (and the coolest girl in the world),” wrote 36-year-old Brazilian entrepreneur Frangulis while sharing a photo of Sabalenka holding their new King Cavalier Cocker Spaniel puppy on her lap. He also added a red heart emoji and tagged Sabalenka on his Instagram story.

Later during the birthday celebrations, Aryna Sabalenka was seen wearing a pink dress with a matching pink bag and braided hair as she celebrated alongside Georgios Frangulis, the founder of Oakberry Açaí.

Sabalenka also shared a playful birthday reel where she walked toward a cake that originally read “18,” before someone swapped the “1” for a “2” to make it “28,” prompting her to jokingly run away from the cake.

Regardless, the birthday message from Georgios Frangulis was sweet, but not surprising considering how close the couple has become over the past year. Frangulis and Aryna Sabalenka began dating in April 2024, during a difficult period in Sabalenka’s life following the tragic passing of her former boyfriend, NHL player Konstantin Koltsov.

The loss deeply affected Sabalenka, but the 36-year-old stood by her side through that challenging time. Now, more than a year into their relationship, the couple appears stronger than ever and one step closer to marriage.

It was only in March that Aryna Sabalenka revealed her engagement to Georgios Frangulis through a short Instagram video. In the clip, Frangulis appeared to propose while kneeling, with “There Is Something on Your Mind” by Big Jay McNeely playing in the background.

Later in the video, the couple showed their engagement rings to the camera, with the large diamond on Sabalenka’s finger quickly catching attention.

Sabalenka later shared more clips on her Instagram story, once again showing off the ring. “Well, I obviously had NO idea this was happening tonight [laughing face emoji],” she wrote.

Soon after the engagement announcement, the tennis world quickly congratulated the couple. Novak Djokovic reacted with three heart emojis, while Jelena Djokovic commented, “Congratulations guys!!!” with a heart emoji.

Now that the engagement is official, many tennis fans are already waiting to see when the couple might finally announce their wedding date.
