Aryna Sabalenka turned and kissed her bicep to mark the end.

If you are wondering what it meant, the gesture is an inside joke among women who made it through tough competition to reach the top. She was a tidy 6-4, 6-3 winner against Marta Kostyuk in the Brisbane International championship game. But the jokes didn’t stop there.

During the trophy ceremony, she took a moment to thank her hardworking team. She then went on to acknowledge her boyfriend, Frangulis, in the players’ box and shared a cheeky remark. “Thank you to my boyfriend. Hopefully, soon I can call you something else. Let’s just put some extra pressure,” she said, drawing smiles.

That phrase alone was enough to ignite social media speculation about Georgios Frangulis’ engagement. Notably, Georgios Frangulis has been Sabalenka’s loudest supporter from the sidelines.

“There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we were doing some fun stuff,” Sabalenka told PEOPLE in August 2024.

The couple was spotted together for the first time in April 2024. Ever since, they’ve been together. So them getting engaged seems probable.

However, neither Sabalenka nor Frangulis has confirmed the speculation. For now, the buzz continues to follow Sabalenka as she heads into the Australian Open. Until then, she has left audiences with remarkable performances.

How Sabalenka Dominated the Brisbane International?

Sabalenka opened her Brisbane campaign with commanding wins over top players. She defeated Madison Keys and Karolína Muchová and secured her spot in the final.

“I’m happy you saw that,” Sabalenka said to wtatennis.com. “This is something I have been working on for probably my whole life, but it never really worked well for me. Then, a couple of years ago, I finally found the touch game. I figured something out, and I kind of changed my game style.”

With her aggressive shot-making, she then handed Marta Kostyuk a loss, claiming the trophy. Now, she’ll be opening Australia with 38 wins in her last 40 matches on Australian soil.
