Anna Odine Stroem Flies to Historic Third Medal at Winter Olympics 2026

History is not just being made at the 2026 Winter Olympics. It is soaring into the record books. And this time, it was Anna Odine Stroem who added her name to it.

She delivered a perfect two-round performance to win gold in the women’s large hill individual event. She finished with 284.8 points by the end of the event. But it wasn’t the win that caught eyeballs. Instead, it was the way she accomplished the massive feat.

Well, Stroem sat second in the first round with 136.7 points. But in the final round, she turned the tables upside down. She soared 134.0 meters and earned 148.1 points. As it was the score of the competition, it pushed her past first-round leader Eirin Maria Kyandal.

That’s how she secured the win. Now, Stroem is the first woman ever to win both individual Olympic ski jumping titles at the same Games. Clearly, this moment elevated her from underdog to history-maker. However, what makes the story even more remarkable is her mindset.

How Stroem Won Two Golds at the Olympics?

Most fans expected Slovenia’s Nika Prevc to win on February 8. That’s because she had dominated the season and led the World Cup standings. And Stroem was no different.

“I didn’t jump in practice yesterday and I saw Nika was in a league of her own—as she usually is,” she said. “So I thought we were all competing for silver here.”

But after the first jump, Stroem found herself in first place. However, before the final jump, Prevc trailed by just one point.

Under heavy pressure, Stroem jumped last and landed a strong 101-meter leap to win by 1.1 points.

“I’m going to be honest, I didn’t quite believe it until my teammates hugged me,” she said.

So yes, her double gold is even more meaningful considering she returned from a serious knee injury in 2023. For Norway, the nation that invented ski jumping, her triumph is a proud and historic moment indeed.
