Angel Reese's role with Team USA is becoming clear, but it's not what you think. While the team improved to 3-0 in World Cup qualifiers, Reese's attitude off the court also stood out.

After the 93–59 win against Italy, Reese spoke to reporters, where she had nothing but praise for her teammates.

“I’m grateful that I got to play with such great players. I mean, these are some Hall of Famers one day type of players,” Angel Reese said, in a clip shared by USA Basketball.

Kahleah Copper led the way with 15 points, while Chelsea Gray added 11 points and 8 assists as Team USA picked up a big win. Dearica Hamby also contributed with 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark finished with 12 points and 5 assists, posting a team-high +27 plus-minus during her time on the floor.

On the other hand, Angel Reese had a quieter outing with only 5 points and 7 rebounds. “I'm just really grateful. I'm thankful being able to come to Puerto Rico and have the opportunity to play the game we love. This is a lesson that I'll never take for granted,” the 23-year-old said.

Despite the ups and downs, Reese and Clark helped the team against Italy, maintaining a 60.7% shooting average during the group phase.

Angel Reese Steps Up as Team USA Cruises Past Puerto Rico

After Team USA’s 91–48 win over Puerto Rico, Caitlin Clark, who scored 8 points in the game, admitted the team didn’t play at its best.

“I thought the game was a little clunky. It felt like we probably didn’t play our best,” Clark said.

Clark also explained that she didn’t shoot as well as she would have liked and said Puerto Rico’s zone defense slowed the team down.

“I mean, I obviously didn't shoot it as well as I probably would have liked. I think their zone kind of threw us off, and it slowed down our pace a little bit. We didn't get as much in transition.”

However, on the other hand, Angel Reese made a strong impact in just her second senior-level appearance, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds in 16 minutes. She also had 3 turnovers during the game.

The tournament marks an important step for the Chicago Sky forward. What are your thoughts on her performance in Team USA's last three wins? Tell us in the comments.
