Angel Reese Reveals New Nickname After Major Announcement

WNBA star Angel Reese has officially added another acting role to her name, and this one comes from Hollywood yet again.

Netflix announced on Tuesday, Jan. 20, that the Chicago Sky forward has joined the Season 2 cast of The Hunting Wives in a co-starring role. This also introduces fans to her newest nickname: Trainer Barbie.

The social media announcement instantly caught attention. Reese herself leaned into the moment, tweeting “Trainer Barbie” alongside basketball, popcorn, and film camera emojis, signaling just how excited she is about the opportunity.

For Reese, this is a full-circle moment from being a fan to now a member of the cast. Back in August 2025, she openly shared her love for the show, writing, “Nglllll The Hunting Wives is a CRAZYYYY but good watch.”

When series creator Rebecca Cutter thanked her for watching, Reese boldly shot her shot, “Just let me know if you need me for season 2.” Just months later, that manifestation has become reality.

The Bayou Barbie from LSU, later known as Chi Barbie in the WNBA after joining the Chicago Sky, previously made it clear she was invested in the series, even calling the Season 1 cliffhanger finale “unsatisfying” and demanding to know about a second season.

Now, she’ll be part of it, along with new cast members Kim Matula, Alex FitzAlan, John Stamos, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet. Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, and several others will be returning from S1.

But this isn't Reese’s first time in front of the camera. She previously appeared in Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite, starring Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson. With the new gig, however, Reese is clearly stepping up her acting game, as she expressed wanting to further explore her abilities.

Besides building her acting resume, Reese was holidaying in London

During a recent trip to London, she shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, captioned with a red telephone emoji and a clock.

“That was the goal for this offseason… Quietly minding my business so everybody won’t mind mine,” she wrote on November 3, 2025.

Dressed in an all-black outfit featuring a faux-fur coat, wide-leg trousers, and a black Hermès Birkin, Reese posed beside a classic red telephone booth with Big Ben in the background.

From shopping at Chanel and Hermès to trying sushi, Reese proved that whether it’s basketball, acting, or fashion, she knows how to own the spotlight from anywhere in the world.

Are you excited? Also, what is that one role that you think Reese can play better?
