In the transition from NCAA to WNBA, jerseys change, but memories and bonds remain, and Angel Reese just confirmed that.

On February 2, the Chicago Sky star posted an Instagram story about her LSU days and hyped up a particular ex-teammate.

Reese posted a 2023 clip from a match between the Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The caption said, "I miss college hoops, such good times. Kateri ALWAYS had my back lmaooo literally my dawg."

The Tigers beat Arkansas 79-76 in the match that Reese highlighted. But the highlight was Reese’s iconic shoe block. In the third quarter, Reese lost her shoe and was trying to put it back on. But as Arkansas’ Samara Spencer neared the rim, Reese blocked that shot while holding the shoe on the other hand.

Soon, Poole came to the scene to dissipate the heat. And that’s what Reese highlighted in her story. Though Poole left LSU in 2023, her reply to Reese’s story spoke for their bond. “Free smoke 4 anyone”, she wrote.

Reese led the Tigers to the NCAA championship in 2023, earning the MOP title herself. She also set the NCAA single-season record with 34 double-doubles.

And this recent story just proved how much she still cherishes those days and her relationship with Poole. However, Reese's LSU journey was far from being a cakewalk.

Reese Opened Up About the Tough Parts of Being at LSU

On January 31, in her recent Unapologetically Angel podcast episode, Reese mentioned that she hated playing under Coach Kim Mulkey at times. Her intense coaching and LSU’s high-pressure environment were hard even for a pro like Reese.

“She used to get on me bad, and I used to hate it in the moment. I used to like why is she always on me like that?” the Sky Forward said.

However, Mulkey’s toughness prepared her for the bigger scene. “She prepared me for the WNBA”, she said, “In the moment I hated it. I'm not gonna lie… But when I left, I was really thankful for that.”

While it was tough at times, Reese’s love for LSU is real. Because it was where she met teammates like Poole and a coach like Mulkey, who contributed big time in Reese’s WNBA stats.
