Angel Reese’s net worth of $1.7 million is proof of the impressive résumé she has built off the court.

Amid ongoing criticism of the WNBA pay gap, this is an accomplishment she is allowed to brag about. And the Chi-Town Barbie isn’t done yet. She’s planning an even bigger move.

During her trip to Australia with Reebok, AR sat down for “Quick Hits” with Women’s Health. She answered several questions confidently. But one response stood out.

When asked what she would be if she weren’t a basketball player, Angel said she would be a cook. Then she revealed something unexpected. “I’m actually going to start culinary school soon,” she said.

Well, that may surprise fans who are used to seeing her at fashion shows and brand events. But once you look at her history with cooking, it all makes sense. Notably, the Maryland native has loved being in the kitchen.

She learned to cook from her grandfather. She also has a deal with one of the most iconic food brands in the world, McDonald’s.

In fact, she became the first female athlete to have her own McDonald’s meal and join the brand’s basketball legacy. So, given her connection to food, this new step feels natural.

After all, food has played a major role in her development

How did Changing Food Habits Help Angel Reese?

During the December 11, 2025, interview with AOL, Chicago Sky superstar shared that she enjoys eating nigiri or sushi rolls, both rich in omega-3 fatty acids. She focuses on staying hydrated and drinks plenty of water before games.

And all these changes didn’t happen overnight. They came between her rookie season and her second year in the league.

“I eat healthy now…I used to not eat healthy my rookie year because when I got out of college, I was used to eating whatever the team gave me. So it was an adjustment for me coming out of college and figuring it out on my own.” she said.

”But then my second year, I was able to have a chef and understand what it's like to eat healthy. So now I eat way healthier than I used to. I definitely noticed a change.”

Now she understands how proper nutrition helps her maintain muscle and manage her weight. That awareness also aligns with her growing modeling portfolio, including major brands like Victoria’s Secret.

So starting a culinary school doesn’t feel random. It feels like the next logical step in a journey where food has always played a meaningful role.
