Angel Reese Announces WNBA Future Amid League-Wide Uncertainty

Angel Reese wrapped up her 2025 WNBA with a somewhat rocky end by missing her last 2 games with a back injury, but she's not planning on carrying that to 2026.
There may be uncertainty around the 2026 WNBA season with the CBA negotiations, but one thing is certain, Reese will be returning to Chicago Sky for her Year 3.

As she prepares with the Team USA training camp at Duke University, Reese said "I'm under contract, so yes I plan on returning to the Sky".
Angel Reese's 2025 Recap
Chi-Town Barbie's season opener with Indiana Fever started with a 35 point loss and let's just say the rest of the season wasn't any better. Chicago Sky finished 10-34 but what got everyone talking were some of Reese's comments.
Angel Reese told Chicago Tribune that she's "not settling for the same s*** we did this year", earning a half game suspension on September 7 for her damaging statement to the franchise among the other things she said.
Reese apologized later, explaining that she was frustrated and her comments were taken out of context.
The Offseason Update
While she was recovering from her back injury, Angel Reese could not pass up the opportunity to be a part of Team USA for the 2028 Olympics.
"Obviously USA is something that I'm never going to pass up on, so I had to do this, but being able to be in this moment here and embracing it, but also being healthy at the same time."
One of the coaches she will be trained by is Duke Blue Devils coach Lara Lawson. And Angel is not the only big name on this team. Her WNBA rival Caitlin Clark and ROTY Paige Bueckers are also at training camp.
The Future of Chicago Sky
The CBA deadline was yet again extended to January 9 but that doesn't stop the players from preparing and training as other leagues like Unrivaled take spotlight and Project-B builds itself brick by brick.
"I think everybody's very intentional about what we want. ... So I'm preparing for a season like everybody else's, but we have to come to a negotiation. It's really important for us to come to a common ground that we can all agree on. It's all fair and everybody benefits from it."
Though Angel is passing Unrivaled this year, she has been busy in other ways. "I'm continuing to talk to Tyler and building that relationship with Jeff," Reese said, talking about to Sky HC Tyler Marsh and GM Jeff Pagliocca.
Maybe this will ease Sky fans and Angel Reese fans to hope for an optimistic 2026.
