Amber Glenn Switches Gears to World Championship After Emotional Winter Olympics Outing

Mar 1, 2026, 11:31 AM CUT

After a busy trip to Milan-Cortina, Amber Glenn won the Olympic gold in the team figure skating event and placed fifth overall in the singles event, but she has not finished her season just yet.

The 26-year-old's official website has confirmed that she will be travelling to Europe, where the ISU World Figure Skating Championships will be held from March 24-29 in Prague, Czech Republic. Fellow ring skater Alysa Liu shall also be participating.

“I’ve never been to Prague, so I’m so excited for that,” Glenn told Olympics.com's Gracie Gold in an exclusive interview.

“I mean, Worlds – that’s in like three weeks. As of right now, I’m planning to compete there, which is great.” The three-time USA champion added.

Amber Glenn was one of the most discussed personnel during this year's Winter Olympics, starting from her influential comeback from 13th to 5th in the singles event to addressing important issues beyond the ice rink.

She would be looking to capitalise on her current run while also loving a shot to redeem herself by winning the singles competition in Prague, after an invalid execution of a "triple loop" in the women's short program effectively ruined her chances of reaching the podium in Milan.

The "Stars on Ice" event will also be much anticipated for Amber Glenn alongside Ilia Malinin as they will tour Japan and the United States, further increasing the spotlight they achieved in Milan-Cortina.

“Then [after Worlds], I’ll get to do my second Stars [on Ice] tour, which I’m absolutely thrilled and so excited for. After that, it’s really just wherever the journey takes me.”

Amber Glenn Reveals Career Plans after Figure Skating

Amber Glenn became the oldest American ring skater in 98 years to perform in the women's singles event. While still only 26 years of age, the average female skater in singles competitions hangs up their boots in their early 20s.

Naturally, speculation began after the end of the Winter Olympics whether the American would ever be seen performing again, as she will be 30 by the time the next event comes around.

While Glenn has confirmed she will be actively performing till the end of this season, the American will take time in making such an extreme decision due to her love for the sport, and her body will tell when the time finally comes to let go.

“I’m going to stay in skating for as long as they’ll have me. I love this sport. I love being involved in it. I love the people. I want to continue to make it a better, safer place for young athletes,”

“I will reevaluate after the season’s over and see how I’m doing physically and mentally. I am not opposed to doing one last season hoorah, just for fun and seeing, ‘Hey, let’s see if I can do a quad.’” The Olympian said.

However, Glenn revealed that she aims to pursue "Dancing with the Stars" after officially retiring from ring skating, as it has been one of her major bucket list items.

“’Dancing With the Stars,’ for sure… I just love everything about it — the costuming, the set design. I can’t wait to see and inquire about that.”
