Amanda Anisimova has reached another career-defining milestone. The 24-year-old is officially the new American No. 1, and that has helped her set another career benchmark in the world rankings.

The latest WTA rankings confirm the 24-year-old making her way to the top-five ranked pros in the world.

"New World #3! The new rankings are out and 🇺🇸 Amanda Anisimova has risen to a brand new career-high of #3. She's just the third woman born in the 2000s ever to reach the Top 3, after Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff,” Tennis.com announced on X.

The jump comes despite there being no tournaments played last week. However, it was Coco Gauff’s dip from 6,763 to 6,273 that helped Anisimova replace her at no 3. Amanda still holds steady at 6,287 ranking points after her first-round exit in Auckland a year ago.

The point drop from Week 1 of the 2025 season now makes Amanda Anisimova the highest-ranked American across the ATP and WTA going into the Australian Open. Gauff stands at 4, while Taylor Fritz takes No. 6.

A historic breakthrough for American tennis

The new no. 3 now becomes just the 15th American woman to reach the Top 3 since the WTA rankings were introduced in 1975. She joins elite company, adding her name next to legends like Chris Evert, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Martina Navratilova, Monica Seles, and more.

Anisimova’s rise has been gradual as the two-time grand slam finalist first made the biggest jump into the Top 50 in 2024, soaring from No. 359 to No. 36.

Carrying momentum in 2025, she made the leap into the Top 10, climbing from No. 36 to No. 4. Her run to the Wimbledon final in 2025 justified her resurgence, even though she fell to Swiatek in straight sets.

“I think the most important thing was that I had a lot of fun on and off of the court, despite results," she said. Now with a career-high rank, 2026 looks more than promising for the American.
