Alysa Liu Returns to Olympic Ice for Special Appearance

Feb 22, 2026, 2:52 PM CUT

United States figure skater Alysa Liu returned to the ice for one last dance on Saturday in the Winter Olympics 2026, and she did what she does best; stunning audiences with her performance.

Liu shimmered in a blue dress, skating to Stateside by PinkPantheress featuring Zara Larsson. Besides other startling sequences, her moves also included a single triple jump with expressive choreography and blowing kisses to the crowd.

Her act was one of the three performances preceding the customary grand finale of the meet. It was also her second performance, given that she was also a part of Team USA's presentation earlier that night.

Liu had the run of her career at the Milano Cortina 2026. On 19 February, she ended USA's 24-year gold medal drought with her performance. However, that wasn't her only feat as she also helped Team USA to bag the gold medal in the team event on February 8.

But while all of her feats were significant in their own ways, her quest to the individual gold medal was one of a kind.

Alysa Liu’s Journey to the Drought-Ending Individual Gold Medal

Liu wasn't even born when USA's Sara Hughes won the last individual gold medal in the sport in 2002. However, that didn't stop her from ending the unruly time.

Liu performed every jump and move almost perfectly during her individual run for the gold on February 19. Her streaked hair and frenulum piercing enhanced the aura of her performance significantly. Her performance was sharp and steady.

Liu earned a score of 226.79 from her incredible performance, which was enough to place her ahead of Japan's Kaori Sakamoto, who scored 224.90, and her 17-year-old compatriot, Ami Nakai, who earned 219.16 points.

She took to the highest level of the victory stand after this performance, with Sakamoto and Nakai on two sides.

After such a successful campaign, the 20-year-old's stunning performance at the Winter Olympics gala served as the fairytale ending to the chapter.
