Aliyah Boston Signs Record-Breaking Extension with Indiana Fever

Apr 18, 2026, 12:00 PM CUT

Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston has now overtaken A'ja Wilson after receiving the most valuable WNBA contract in history.

Boston's agent Zack Miller told ESPN that the three-time WNBA All-Star has agreed to a four-year, $6.3 million contract extension.

The 24-year-old will earn $1 million this year, rather than the standard $1.19 million max deal she was eligible for. However, she helps the team pay for others in the roster, while she will earn 20% of the cap in each subsequent season through 2029.

Boston's willingness to structure her new contract in a way that helps the Fever long-term shows how committed she is to the team.

The Fever chose Boston as the No.1 overall pick back in 2023, and she has not missed a single WNBA game since then. Boston averaged a career-high 15 points, along with 8.2 rebounds and another personal-best 3.7 assists per contest last season.

She was also tied for sixth place in last year's MVP voting while earning All-Defensive and All-WNBA second-team nods.

The Fever has now secured the future of the Big 3, which includes Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston.

Clark, who is one of Boston's best friends in Indiana, naturally took the news well and congratulated Boston on Instagram.

Caitlin Clark Reacts to Aliyah Boston's Historic Contract Deal

Caitlin Clark was all over social media, congratulating Boston on the record-breaking deal. "Absolutely 🙌🏻 congrats AB!!!!!" she wrote on X, quoting ESPN's announcement made for Boston's historic deal.

The Fever were without Clark's talents for most of last season, but still reached the playoffs semifinals after heroic efforts from Boston and Mitchell.

Boston averaged 12.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists during that postseason.

While Boston and Mitchell have been extended this offseason, Clark has two years left on her deal at $529K and $598K, respectively.

She will be eligible for a long-term extension next offseason in the form of the rookie max extension, which currently starts at $1.3 million per year. She also meets the criteria for the EPIC clause, further increasing the salary she is eligible for.

But for now, the Indiana Fever are all geared up to take on their first challenge on May 8 against none other than the Dallas Wings, led by Paige Bueckers and the latest No.1 overall pick, Azzi Fudd.
