A’ja Wilson Offers Crucial Advice to Dawn Staley’s New Player

Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks are over the moon, and A'ja Wilson has just added to the happiness.
After Jerry Robinson's announcement committing to the Gamecocks, A'ja Wilson sent a message to the young star.
“Welcome to the Gamecock family. You made the best choice. There’s no place like Columbia. I’m so excited to watch you grow as a person and as a player and take the next step in your journey. Enjoy every moment, every minute, and before you know it, I’ll be seeing you in the big leagues.”
Jerzy is no small deal. She’s already a five-star prospect, ranked No. 5 in the Top 100 for the Class of 2026. She’s the team’s third 2026 signee. She’s also got love for the Gamecocks.
Notably, she chose South Carolina over LSU and UConn, the 2025 national champions who beat Coach Dawn Staley and her squad twice last season. “I feel like it’s home, it’s peace,” Robinson said about her decision.
She took her first official visit to South Carolina in late October. Back then, she was also spotted sitting behind the Gamecocks’ bench during a game. She went on to attend a football game on October 25 with Staley, current players, and Time’s Athlete of the Year, A’ja Wilson.
What Would the Gamecocks Look Like in 2027?
South Carolina already had commitments from Kelsi Andrews, a 6-foot-4 center and the No. 18 recruit. Then, Kaeli Wynn, the No. 17 recruit, committed. Alicia Tournebize, a player from France, committed to South Carolina on December 22.
And now Robinson, the highest-ranked recruit since Joyce Edwards, is also joining in. All these players will be immensely beneficial for the Gamecocks. T
So with Ashlyn Watkins, Chloe Kitts, and these new players, they have real chances for the 2027 championship title.
