A’ja Wilson Earns a 2025 Honor From Sue Bird’s Partner

A’ja Wilson has turned heads with her wigs throughout the season.
Be it glamorous pink wigs or the bob cut hairdo she displayed on Good Morning America, she has remained the talk of the town. And for that, Sue Bird’s partner, Megan Rapinoe, brought her an honor.
On A Touch More Podcast, Rapinoe finally revealed the End-Of-Year Meggie Awards. And the red carpet MVP went to Wilson for her looks during her press tour. Wilson went on about four tours, and every time, she had a different look. But Rapinoe’s focus was on her hair.
My favorite, obviously, was the wig on Robin Roberts,” she added, laughing. “Like, why did she pop out with like my mom’s wig on those? So funny.”
However, that wasn’t the best wig moment in Rapinoe’s list. It actually went to the UConn Women’s Basketball Team for donning the Chris Dailey wigs.
The former soccer star said, “When they wore the CD wigs… It wasn’t A’ja with Robin Roberts. That was probably third. Obviously, my wig second. This wig, out of nowhere, for no good reason, they had no business being that funny, pulling up to a press conference in CD’s wig.”
In case you’re wondering, A’ja Wilson didn’t leave with just one Meggie Award. Earlier in October, on the same podcast, Rapinoe awarded the Las Vegas Aces center with a different recognition.
A’ja Wilson Gets Recognized for Her 2025 WNBA Finals Stance
The best ‘I’m Her’ moment also went to A’ja Wilson. And it was during Game 3 in the 2025 WNBA Finals. She just scored the game-winning buzzer-beater against the Phoenix Mercury. To celebrate and assert dominance, she took a bold stance and stuck her tongue out.
Reflecting on that moment, the podcaster said, “An opportunity to cement herself in the Hall of Greatness. And she did it. And then just like, had her tongue out and it was just great. I loved it. That was a tough shot but also a quintessentially A’ja Wilson shot.”
From red carpets to title-clinching moments, Wilson keeps finding ways to stand out beyond the box score. And as 2025 showed, her presence is just as commanding as her play.
