Just three games into the 2026 regular season, A'ja Wilson delivered a historic performance against the Connecticut Sun. She played an offensive masterclass, breaking a WNBA record in just 32 min and 13 seconds.
The 29-year-old scored a record 45 points in the Aces' 101-94 victory at Mohegan Sun Arena. This was also the most points scored in a single game in the WNBA this season.
This was the fifth 40-point game of A’ja Wilson’s career, the most in WNBA history. The performance moved her past Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi for the most 40-point games in league history. Her career-high still stands at 53 points, which she scored against Atlanta on August 22, 2023.

Against the Connecticut Sun, she also shot 15-of-18 from the field and made both of her three-point attempts. She also stayed perfect at the free-throw line, going 13-for-13.
“Finding shots in our system and letting the flow of the game take over,” Wilson said. “That's big to me. I want to be efficient. It's beautiful to rack up all these points, but to be efficient, that's what is key.”
The reigning MVP also carried most of the offensive responsibility for Las Vegas in the win. Wilson alone scored just over 40% of the team’s total points against Connecticut.
At the end of the night, Aces' coach Becky Hammon was left in awe of what had just happened.

During the third quarter, the Connecticut Sun went on an 11-0 run and suddenly cut the Aces’ lead to just two points. That was when A’ja Wilson stepped in once again.
Wilson knocked down a huge three-pointer to stop Connecticut’s momentum. Then, on the very next possession, she helped create another three-point play and quickly shifted the pressure back onto the Sun.
Las Vegas carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, and A'ja Wilson delivered when her team needed her most. After the game, head coach Becky Hammon praised her impact.
“She was unbelievable,” Hammon said. “Really happy with the free throws. The 3s, she just continued to sprinkle those in. She got a lot of early touches.”
After completing a three-game road winning streak, the Aces will now face the Atlanta Dream on May 17 before returning home to host the Los Angeles Sparks.
So, do you think A’ja Wilson can deliver another big performance?
